The way that natural crystals grow is fascinating. A crystal begins as a nucleus and then enters a rapid and dynamic crystallization stage, growing outwards all the time. For the artist, the process is very similar. The creative concept, or if you will, the nucleus, is the catalyst and then the artist projects in his mind how the illuminated sculpture can cradle its crystal. The dynamic development of the sculpture then follows: working out the design details and finally implementing them. This series of lighted sculptures focuses on growth aspects of matter; the crystals selected for their beauty and particular suitability for this artistic concept, as well as the growth and expansion of energy. Growth is expressed through the unique lighting of the crystals. These iluminated sculptures comprised of single natural crystal or cluster of crystals evoke images of mountains, mountain ranges, icebergs or vegetation |
